The journey back from St Ives was a good deal less traumatic than the one in the opposite direction. We made steady progress across the Middle Level and up the Nene, getting back to the Grand Union on the 9th September. Then we had a leisurely trip north, arriving at Huddlesford for the Boat Gathering on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd.
After that it was into mooching around near Alrewas mode for a couple of weeks or so. We made a trip to Rugeley for the change of scene and to shop, and on the way back I took this shot of Armitage "Tunnel"; it's one of those that has been mostly opened out, leaving just a wide road bridge over the top. Spode House and Hawkesyard Priory are just to the north of it - we used a picture of them in the calendar this year.
